Here's a picture from yesterday's St. Patrick's day parade in Manorhamilton. Brought forward a day as a result of the early Easter festivities, don't you know.

  • Canon 400D
  • Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5 - 5.6 IS USM
  • 1/100 sec, f/5.6, 135mm, ISO 400

Mist in Glenade

Mad misty day today, Stephen and I took a spin down to Glenade to see what we could see. Very difficult conditions photographically, but here's one I made earlier - I liked the framing in it, but not so gone on other aspects.

Equipment & Settings used:

  • Canon 400D
  • Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5 - 5.6 IS USM
  • 1/800 sec, f/8.0, 44mm, ISO 200

Sunset in Rosses Point

I was out in Rosses Point doing a little bit of work and it was a fine evening, so I nipped down to the sea as the sun went down. Fun! I used it as an opportunity to test the 'expose to the right' theories on https://www.luminous-landscape.com - this is the result.

Equipment & Settings used:

  • Canon 400D
  • Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC
  • 1/30 sec, F/4.5, 28mm, ISO 100

Bundoran

Yesterday turned out to be quite a nice day, so Stephen and I went on a jaunt to test his new 40D. He's delighted with it, seems to be a savage beast of a camera. Here's one of mine.

  • Canon 400D
  • Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC
  • 1/800th second, f/5.0, ISO 100, 59mm

Gazing at his family tree

Fun with bokeh! The effect is achieved following the instructions shown here. Great fun.. I do like froggies.. The reason the shape is so good is because I have a froggie shaped hole puncher, not because I have the patience of a saint.

Equipment & settings used:
  • Canon 400D
  • Sigma 30mm f/1.4
  • Speedlite 420ex (bounced off ceiling)
  • 1/15th second @ f/1.4, ISO 100, 30mm
